Discussion
After a week with an earthquake and a hurricane to deal with we deserve a break and we’ll get one. Nice weather is in store for much of the week with no substantial rain events coming our way this week. Irene wreaked havoc on the area and numerous flooding issues and power outages remain, but we’ll have dry weather and pleasant temperatures to help with the clean-up efforts. Some peak wind gusts reports from the storm include 47 mph at Reagan National Airport, 55 mph in Reston, Virginia, 59 mph in Chevy Chase and 72 mph in Gaithersburg, Maryland. A sampling of rain totals include 3.83 in DC, 4.36 in Franconia, Virginia, 5.10 in Glenn Dale, Maryland and 3.48 in Alexandria, Virginia.
