Discussion
After a week with an earthquake and a hurricane to deal with here in the Mid-Atlantic we deserve a break and we’ll get one. Nice weather is in store for much of the week with no substantial rain events coming our way. Irene wreaked havoc on the area and numerous flooding issues and power outages remain, but we’ll have dry weather and pleasant temperatures to help with the clean-up efforts. Some peak wind gusts reports from the storm include 61 mph at Newark Airport, NJ, 67 mph at LaGuardia Airport, 60 mph in Central Park, 79 in Nassau County and 91 mph in Suffolk County. A sampling of rain totals include 6.87 in Central Park which puts them at an incredible 18.95 inches for August, 8.15 in Yonkers and more than 10 inches in many locations in northern New Jersey.
