High pressure continues to control our weather and we’ll experience another nice day in the Mid-Atlantic. The high moves off the coast by the weekend and a low pressure system with associated frontal systems will head into the East and make our weather somewhat unsettled and humid for the weekend and early part of next week. Meanwhile, the tropics are still rather active and Tropical Storm “Katia” is slowly churning its way westward in the Atlantic. It may become a strong hurricane within a few days, but it won’t affect the US east coast until later next week - if ever. There are some indications that it will eventually make a turn to the north and then northeast staying away from the east coast; however, it is simply too far away to write it off. Elsewhere, low pressure may form in the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days and this could develop into a tropical system that threatens the Gulf Coast and will have to be monitored.
