12:00 PM | Massive rain amounts likely throughout the DC and Baltimore regions over the next three hours

Paul Dorian

A north-to-south band of extremely heavy showers and thunderstorms will inundate the Washington, D.C. metropolitan region over the next three hours with flooding rains of up to 4 inches or so. This band of very heavy rain will affect all nearby suburbs of DC in Virginia and Maryland and will also affect the Baltimore region over the next three hours. The north-to-south orientation of the band is a major cause of concern here as the individual cells within the band are generally moving south-to-north; therefore, continuous heavy rain will likely fall on the same areas over the next couple of hours ("training"). Stay safe and do not attempt to drive into any water on roadways.
