2:00 PM | DC/Baltimore getting pounded; potential exists here for late day or nighttime strong thunderstorms
Paul Dorian
A band of very heavy showers and thunderstorms has pounded the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland regions over the past couple of hours, but we have stayed virtually rain-free here in southeastern Pennsylvania since early this morning and that band is making very little eastward progress. There is the potential, however, for some heavy shower and strong-to-severe thunderstorm activity to develop over the next several hours across South Jersey, Delaware and the Maryland/Virginia Eastern Shore and this could affect the Philly region late in the afternoon or tonight. Temperatures and humidity levels have risen sharply in this region since early this morning and this could set the stage later today for strong-to-severe thunderstorms to develop just to our south. The threat for heavy showers and strong thunderstorms will continue into tomorrow as well. Stay tuned.
