Discussion

A significant cool down is on the way for the entire Mid-Atlantic, but it will be accompanied initially with showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two. One cold front will move through the region today and it could spark scattered late day or evening showers or thunderstorms, but a more significant front moves through on Thursday, and it is that frontal passage that will spark more widespread shower and thunderstorm activity. Once that front clears the east coast, a sprawling Canadian high pressure system will move into the region and it will dominate our weather picture right through the weekend and into early next week. The Friday through Monday period will feature sunny, cool days with temperatures primarily in the 60’s and chilly nights with lows reaching the 40’s in spots.
