Discussion

The combination of a stalled out frontal system and a very slow-moving and vigorous upper level low will give us a prolonged unsettled weather pattern here in the Mid-Atlantic region and it is likely that this pattern will generate some heavy rain at times later this week, weekend and maybe even into early next week. The vigorous and slow-moving upper level low will drop southeastward from the Upper Midwest to the Ohio Valley over the next several days and it will likely spawn a few surface low pressure systems that will ride up along a stalled out frontal system during the late week. The first threat for heavy showers and thunderstorms from this active pattern will be in the late Thursday/Friday time period as one low moves from south-to-north along the stalled front. This upper level low will move so slowly that it is likely that our unsettled weather pattern will last right through the upcoming weekend and even into the early-to-middle part of next week.
