Discussion
The atmosphere is setting us up here in the Mid-Atlantic region for a prolonged period of unsettled weather and also for the possibility of heavy rain at times from late this week into next week. A vigorous and slow-moving upper level low will drop slowly southeastward from the Upper Midwest to the Ohio Valley over the next several days and it will likely help to develop a few surface low pressure systems from later this week into the early-to-middle of next week. This scenario would give us our first threat for heavy showers and thunderstorms in the Friday time frame when one low pressure system approaches from our south. This upper level low will move so slowly that it is likely that our unsettled weather pattern will last right through the upcoming weekend and even into the early-to-middle part of next week.
