8:50 PM | Torrential rains to move through the DC metro region
Paul Dorian
Powerful thunderstorms are moving through the DC metro region this evening and will dump copious amounts of rainfall in a short time in many locations in and around the District. Up to 2 inches of rain can fall over the next couple of hours in the area and this could cause flash flooding in some spots. Do not drive on flooded roadways as water levels can rise very rapidly with the torrential rains and saturated grounds. The threat for rain and flooding continues into Thursday. These particular storms will head into northern Maryland after passing through the DC metro region affecting PG, Howard and Montgomery Counties before 10PM.
