Discussion
The persistent Midwestern low pressure system that has affected our weather for the last several days will finally lift out of here by tomorrow, but not before possibly sending us a few more showers and thunderstorms later today. Once this system finally lifts out of the US the overall weather pattern will change dramatically this weekend to much cooler and windy conditions. The initial push of colder air may cause some clouds and showers on Saturday and it may actually be cold enough in some of the highest elevations of the Northeast (e.g., Poconos, Catskills) to see some snowflakes mixing in with the showers. Winds will also be quite noticeable on Saturday with gusts of 10-20 mph quite common from the north or northwest. A stiff breeze continues on Sunday, but the weather gets calmer and sunnier as we progress through the early part of next week.
