12:40 PM | Solid area of rain headed towards the DC region with heaviest rain in the western suburbs

A solid band of showers is heading into the DC metro region from central and southern Virginia and it looks like much of the afternoon will be wet; especially, in the western suburbs. There are embedded areas of heavier downpours within this large band of rain and anyone can get hit by a brief downpour during the next few hours, but the best threat for heavy rain is from the District to points west. The threat for more showers continues later tomorrow into Friday from another system that will clear out of here by the weekend.
