Discussion
A strong cold frontal system will sweep through the region by later tonight and this will pave the way for a cool, dry weekend. More showers and thunderstorms are a threat, however, until that frontal passage actually occurs later tonight and some of the rain can be heavy. Winds behind the front on Saturday will be quite strong with gusts past 30 mph. Calmer weather will occur on Sunday and Monday, but it’ll still be quite cool and a few showers are possible Sunday night and Monday. A strong storm will affect much of the eastern half of the country by the middle of next week with rain likely along the east coast and perhaps enough cold air for some snow over the Great Lakes and upper Appalachian Mountains.
