Discussion
Cold air is now firmly entrenched in the region and despite lots of sunshine today temperatures will be hard pressed to move past the mid 40’s. This cold will yield; however, during the weekend as high pressure moves off the east coast and a SW flow of air develops on its backside. Temperatures on Saturday should reach or surpass 50 degrees and then should flirt with the 60 degree mark on Sunday afternoon. Elsewhere, heavy snow will accumulate over the next two days from the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies to the Northern Plains as the first widespread snowstorm of the season affects that part of the country.
