Discussion
Yesterday’s strong storm has raced northeastward into eastern Canada, but it will continue to buffet us with wind gusts of 35 mph or higher for much of the day. High pressure builds in by tonight and winds will begin to diminish and it’ll get quite cold with temperatures dropping into the 20’s. Late this week and this weekend, systems will generally move quickly along the northern tier of states producing nothing more than a couple of occasional showers here in the NYC metro region. Longer term, there are increasing indications that winter weather will return to the eastern US during the first couple of weeks of January. The first change in the overall mild pattern that we've experienced recently will be the intrusion of some very chilly air early to middle of next week that may very well be accompanied by some storminess along the east coast.
