Discussion

A fast-moving low pressure area will pass by well to our north tonight, but it will slide a cold front through the region and that could set off some snow flurry activity. Another low pressure area will approach us from the Tennessee Valley on Saturday and it could be cold enough here at the start Friday night for some snow that will likely mix with sleet and freezing rain by morning and then an ultimate changeover to "plain" rain on Saturday. While light accumulations cannot be ruled out here Friday night and early Saturday before the changeover, the greatest chance for accumulations will be to our north. The recent trend in the computer forecast models has been for a slightly colder (i.e., more frozen precipitation) solution for the weekend event, thanks to a strong, cold high pressure system, so we'll continue to closely monitor the situation. It’ll turn somewhat milder again early next week.
