A fast-moving low pressure area will pass by well to our north tonight, but it will slide a cold front through the region and that should set off some snow shower activity with light accumulations and some slick spots mainly between 9PM and 3AM. Another low pressure area will approach us from the Tennessee Valley late Friday night and Saturday and it should be cold enough here at the start for snow to develop after midnight, which may change to a wintry mix of sleet and rain during the day on Saturday. Accumulations of "plowable" amounts and slick spots are likely around here late Friday night and early Saturday before the possible changeover to sleet and rain with increasing amounts as one travels just to the north and west. The recent trend in the computer forecast models has been for a slightly colder and more snowy solution for the weekend event, thanks to a strong, cold high pressure system, so we'll continue to closely monitor the situation. In areas where the precipitation falls completely or mainly as snow, amounts could end up in the 3-6 inch range. It’ll turn somewhat milder again early next week.
