Discussion

High pressure has returned to the Mid-Atlantic region and will control our weather into the weekend. The blizzard that is raging in the middle of the country will try to head to the East over the next few days, but it will initially have a hard time due to a blocking pattern in the upper atmosphere. The threat remains, however, for some snow around here from late Saturday night into Sunday and, while there can be some rain mixed in for awhile at the onset, small accumulations are possible. Colder air is likely to move into the Mid-Atlantic by mid-week with temperatures struggling to reach 40 degrees on Wednesday.
