Discussion
A fast-moving system will spread some snow into the region this afternoon that can be mixed with rain for a brief time S and E of the District. The snow will end by early tonight with accumulations of a coating to an inch in the District and points S and E to as much as 2 inches or so in the northern and western suburbs. There can be some slick spots on the roads late in the afternoon as temperatures drop to near freezing and also overnight even after the snow ends. High pressure builds back into the region for Thursday and Friday, but then a strong Arctic cold front will whip through the region Friday night. This front will touch off some snow shower activity late Friday night and early Saturday and there is the still the slight chance for something more significant than just snow showers this weekend. Winds will also pick up behind the front late Friday night and those strong NW winds will continue much of the weekend.
