Discussion
The complex combination of an Arctic front, strong upper level disturbance, an influx of Gulf moisture and a developing storm just off the east coast will bring us precipitation beginning this evening, possibly as rain or a mix of rain and snow, but that will change to all snow after midnight and continue into tomorrow morning. Accumulating snow on the order of 1-3 inches is likely from this system and it’ll be followed by bitter cold for tomorrow night and Sunday. If the storm develops a slight bit quicker or a little closer to the coast then these estimates of 1-3 inches could still be raised somewhat. Higher snowfall amounts of up to 6 inches are likely in portions of eastern New England. Strong winds will follow the snow tomorrow afternoon as temperatures likely drop and additional snow showers are possible. Temperatures should, in fact, plunge to the low-to-middle teens Saturday night and highs on Sunday are likely to hold at or below 30 degrees. Another threat for snow will come on Tuesday or so as the overall pattern stays quite active.
