A weakening low pressure area will affect the region today and tonight with plenty of clouds and perhaps a few snow or rain showers that can also be mixed with ice pellets. Significant precipitation is, however, not at all likely as this system is losing its upper level support on its way to the east coast and temperatures will be above freezing through the day. Weak high pressure will build into the region on Wednesday, but then another wave of low pressure will head this way by Thursday from the Ohio Valley. That system will take a track to our northwest on Thursday and it will likely spread some rain our way, but there is a small chance that there can be snow mixed in at the very onset before milder air rolls in. Another low pressure system should develop in the southeast US this weekend and this potential setup bears watching over the next few days as a storm could phase at just the right time to affect the Mid-Atlantic region late in the weekend.
