Discussion

A fast-moving low pressure area will stay mostly to our south today, but it can throw a little light snow on the south side of the District in places like Warrenton, VA and Fredericksburg, VA, but the heaviest snow from this system will fall from Charlottesville to Richmond where this direct hit could bring as much as 5 inches of snow. The cold air that contributed to the severe weather outbreak on Friday in the Midwest and South will reach its peak here today and tomorrow in the East. Temperatures will be some twenty degrees colder than the high temperatures reached on Saturday. A significant warm up will begin on Wednesday with temperatures heading back up into the 60’s and the 60’s are likely for Thursday as well. A cold front will slowly work its way through the area on Friday and it’ll turn cooler for the weekend. Longer term, the overall trend looks very warm right through at least the middle of the month.
