Low-level moisture continues to help in the generation of some early morning fog around here, but sunshine will return by later this morning and temperatures will soar once again to near 70 degrees. The warmest day of the week is likely to be on Thursday when temperatures should reach the mid-to-upper 70’s along with partial sunshine and breezy conditions. A noticeable cooling trend; however, will take place this weekend and at the same time the threat for showers will increase as the much weakened remains of the heavy rain that has been plaguing the south-central states heads in our direction. In fact, temperatures might be confined to the low-to-mid 50's on Sunday with possible periods of rain. The weekend cooling trend will likely reverse course early next week, but it will be hard to get up to the same lofty levels that we've enjoyed this week. Elsewhere, more heavy rain will fall today in two separate parts of the country including the Deep South from Arkansas to Louisiana and the Pacific Northwest from Washington to northern California. Also, the cherry blossoms have reached full bloom in Washington, DC and will be for the next few days. The temperatures in DC are averaging some 10 degrees above normal for the month of March so far.
