Discussion
The weather for the Phillies home opener this afternoon will be most noteworthy for its strong winds of up 40 mph or so blowing from left-to-right to go along with some sunshine and temperatures in the low 60’s. Strong Canadian high pressure that dominated our weather picture over the past several days has now lost control and a retrograding low pressure area over New England will be the big player around here for the next several days. Winds will kick up today, possibly gusting past 40 mph, as the overall weather pattern changes to one with a deep trough of low pressure in the eastern states by mid-week. As a result of the pattern change, our temperatures will be below normal from Tuesday through Thursday and snow showers will form in the higher elevation, interior sections of the Northeast US during the mid-week time period. Milder air should return into this part of the country over the weekend.
