Discussion

Drought-busting rains on the order of 1-2 inches fell around here this weekend thanks to a strong cold frontal passage on Saturday night and the powerful coastal storm of Sunday and Sunday night. While the steadiest and heaviest rains from the storm have passed us by to our north, there will be leftover showers today and temperatures will hold primarily in the way-below normal upper 40's for highs. The coastal storm will work its way inland today from its current location near New York City as it will head northwest towards the southwestern part of New York State by later tonight. Meanwhile, it is cold enough for heavy, wet accumulating snow across West Virginia and far western Virginia and power outages will likely result throughout that region from downed tree limbs. It is now snowing in places like Morgantown and Elkins in West Virginia and the snow will continue in these areas throughout the day. In fact, it’ll be cold enough just to our west later today for some flakes or ice pellets to mix in, and we’ll have to monitor the possibility for some frozen precipitation to mix in around here. Damp, chilly weather will continue here on Tuesday and Wednesday.
