Discussion
Scattered showers are likely today in the DC metro region, but nothing significant is expected. Cooler, drier air will sweep into the region late tonight following a cold frontal passage and winds will be quite gusty on Friday possibly reaching 30 mph. This cold front will stall just to our south on Friday and that boundary zone between cold air to the north and warm air to the south will act as a pathway for some moisture to advance eastward this weekend. As a result, showers are likely on Saturday in much of the region, but there will likely be some clearing on Sunday. It will be quite cool this weekend with highs generally well below normal in the upper 50's, but there are signs for much warmer weather to develop here by the middle and latter part of next week.
