Discussion

Warmer air is advancing into the region this morning and warm frontal showers and thunderstorms are the result as we transition away from the cool weather of recent days to a warmer pattern. The steadiest of the rain has passed us by to the east, but another shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out for the rest of the day. Temperatures this afternoon will likely shoot to 80 degrees, but the warmest weather will come at the end of the work week. A series of weak fronts will keep us unsettled right into the weekend with the threat for a shower or thunderstorm from time-to-time. Temperatures will likely reach the mid-to-upper 80’s on Friday, and it'll stay warm on Saturday, but this impressive late week warm spurt does not mean it will stay warm throughout the month of May. Actually, there are signs for some cooler-than-normal air masses to infiltrate the Mid-Atlantic States during the next couple of weeks.
