Discussion

Yesterday’s cold front has swept off of the east coast and more comfortable weather is expected for today and tonight. In fact, hot weather will likely not return for at least the next several days. The dry weather will not last too long, however, as a low pressure area will head towards the Great Lakes from the Ohio Valley at the end of the work week and this will cause another cold front to sweep towards the east coast. As a result, showers and thunderstorms will threaten the Mid-Atlantic region later Friday and Friday night and some of the storms can be strong with heavy rain and gusty winds. The front clears through the region early Saturday and much of the weekend will be rather pleasant although an upper level disturbance could generate an isolated shower or two during Sunday afternoon. Elsewhere, the remains of Tropical Storm Beryl are now out over the Atlantic Ocean and it is continuing on a path away from the US east coast.
