Discussion

A slow-moving cold front will approach the area today from the west and it will squeeze a lot of moisture out of the atmosphere over the next 12 to 24 hours. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the Mid-Atlantic right through tonight, and they will only slowly pull away from the NYC region later Wednesday as drier air tries to filter in from the north. Some of the rain will likely be on the heavy side late today and tonight and portions of the area can get an inch and a half of rain by noon tomorrow. High pressure will gradually fill into the region for the 2nd half of the week behind the frontal system and that will lead to relatively dry conditions with seasonal or slightly below normal temperature values.
