Discussion
A slow-moving cold front will approach the area today from the west and it will squeeze a lot of moisture out of the atmosphere over the next 12 to 24 hours. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the Mid-Atlantic through tonight and then they will pull away from the region early on Wednesday as drier air slowly filters in from the north. Some of the rain will be on the heavy side and many sections of the I-95 corridor from DC to Philly to NYC will receive more than an inch of rain by early tomorrow. High pressure will gradually fill into the region for the 2nd half of the week behind the frontal system and that will lead to relatively dry conditions with seasonal or slightly below normal temperature values.
