Cooler air has moved into the Mid-Atlantic region following yesterday’s frontal passage and temperatures today will be back below normal with highs approaching the 80 degree mark. After another comfortable night, temperatures will begin a rebound on Wednesday, and by Thursday we’ll get very warm again with highs just past 90 degrees. Hot weather is in store for Friday and Saturday as temperatures will climb to 95 degrees or above along with the slight threat for a shower or thunderstorm. Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Debby will meander around the northeastern Gulf of Mexico for the next couple of days continuing to dump heavy rainfall on the Gulf coastal region of Florida where some 20 inches has already been measured in spots. Debby will head northeastward later this week crossing Florida and moving to a position just off of the Southeast US coast. The other big weather story nationwide has been the extreme heat across the Rockies and Central Plains. Yesterday, for example, Denver, Colorado tied its all-time high temperature record of 105 degrees which had been matched only twice in its history (2005, 1878) since record-keeping began there in 1872. This extreme heat will expand to the South and Mid-Atlantic by late this week and weekend.
