Discussion
A strong cool front is now passing through the region and though it will likely stall along the SE US coast over the next few days, high pressure should be able to build into the Mid-Atlantic region and promote some clearing with a gradual reduction in overall humidity. That same front will turn around and approach the region on Wednesday from the south as a warm front resulting in higher humidity and an increased chance for showers and thunderstorms. A stronger front is liable to continue our shower and thunderstorm threat late in the week as it closes in on the east coast from the Upper Midwest. Elsewhere, Tropical Storm Ernesto continues to chug along to the west in the Caribbean Sea. It is headed on a path that would take it right into the Yucatan Peninsula section of Mexico. Tropical Depression Florence is situated in the central Atlantic and has weakened recently as it has encountered lots of dry air.
