A large area of heavy showers and strong-to-severe thunderstorms is currently plowing to the east from central New York State to western Virginia. Within this large area of rain, there is an especially impressive looking line of storms from south-central PA to just west of DC and this line is racing to the east and should arrive shortly. Damaging winds of 60+mph can occur from this particular line and isolated tornadoes are also a general threat for the DC metro region and up and down I-95 from late this afternoon through the early evening.
