Discussion
Rain moved into the region overnight as a Great Lakes low pressure system swung a cool front in this direction. That area of low pressure will pull away to our northeast today and, as a result, skies will tend to clear this afternoon following leftover morning clouds and showers. High pressure will build in this weekend and sunshine is likely for both days. The skies should be at least partially clear late Saturday night and early Sunday morning (pre-dawn hours) for favorable viewing of the Orionid meteor shower which promises to be quite good this year given the lack of moonlight to interfere. Looking farther ahead, the weather pattern looks quite interesting by late next week into the following week as at the same time Arctic air may plunge into the NW US and Central Plains, the tropics look to be active with perhaps one last gasp and a possible tropical system near Florida.
