Discussion
High pressure will control the weather around here to close out the work week, but moisture from another storm system will approach the region by morning. Snow is likely on Saturday as the storm moves to a position off the New Jersey coastline the end of the day. Accumulations are likely to occur on the order of 2-4 inches in and around the NYC metro region with some higher amounts possible on the eastern end of Long Island by the latter part of the evening. The storm moves quickly and we’ll get back to dry and cold weather to start the new week. Elsewhere, another dramatic stratospheric warming event is about to occur near the North Pole in the next 10 days or so and it is detailed in today's video. This type of atmospheric event can sometimes be a precursor to additional cold air outbreaks into the US in coming weeks.
