Discussion

Temperatures will climb to 65 degrees today and will stay nearly as mild around here on Wednesday. Strong low pressure will move from the Ohio Valley on Wednesday to right over Pennsylvania on its way to the Northeast U.S. coastline by early Thursday. This track is one that will keep the I-95 corridor on the mild side of the storm while we are on its front side, but once the low pulls away to our northeast, colder air will rush in behind a powerful cold frontal system and temperatures will plunge late tomorrow night and early Thursday along with howling winds out of the NW. Significant snow from this upcoming storm will occur well north of here in upstate New York and interior New England where more than a foot can accumulate by later Thursday. Very cold conditions on Thursday around here will be accompanied by strong N-NW winds of up to 40 mph or so, and, despite some sunshine, temperatures will struggle to pass 35 degrees - way below the norm for this time of year. A quick modification in temperatures; however, will occur as we close out the work week and after a mild start to the weekend, temperatures will then trend downward early next week.
