Discussion

The powerful and slow-moving storm that affected the Mid-Atlantic region with significant rainfall over the weekend is finally pulling away from our region this morning. As colder air wrapped into the system on Sunday night, a little bit of snow and sleet mixed into the picture in the metro region and it'll stay on the chilly side this morning with lingering showers of mixed precipitation. The weather will improve somewhat this afternoon and noticeably by tomorrow throughout the Mid-Atlantic region with the return of sunshine and milder conditions. The weather will, however, become quite unsettled for the second half of the week.

Another area of low pressure will move through the Great Lakes region at mid-week on its way to eastern Canada and its associated cold front will pass across our region early Wednesday. The front is then forecast to stall just south of the area later this week. Another low pressure system emerging from the Rockies and moving northeastward toward the Great Lakes should first bring its warm front through the region by Friday with its cold front passing through the region early Saturday.
