Discussion
Warmer air is now entrenched in the Mid-Atlantic region and it will reach its peak in intensity tomorrow with record highs likely up and down the I-95 corridor. Unfortunately, the warmer weather is accompanied by rain and some of the rain can fall heavily at times later today into tonight. The record high in Philly for December 24th is 64 degrees - actually set just one year ago – and it is certainly in jeopardy. In fact, Philadelphia's all-time December record high of 73°F - set on two days in 1998 during the last strong El Nino event – also will be in jeopardy tomorrow. A cool front will slide through by Friday, Christmas Day, bringing slightly cooler air into the area, but it’ll stay above normal for this time of year. It also stays unsettled late in the late week and weekend time period with the threat for more rain late Friday and on each weekend day.
