Discussion
Oppressive heat and humidity will persist today as high pressure continues to influence our weather. A weakening frontal system will approach the region tonight and then a secondary frontal system will follow late tomorrow. Each of these two fronts can generate showers and thunderstorms for the Mid-Atlantic region from later today into tomorrow night with some heavy downpours and possible strong-to-severe thunderstorms. Weak high pressure will build in for the weekend bringing us some improvement in the overall weather pattern.
