Discussion
Strong high pressure is building into the Northeast US and it will control our weather right through the weekend and the early part of next week. Temperatures and humidity levels will be quite comfortable around here for late August over the next several days. Elsewhere, the tropics are quite active and intensifying Tropical Storm Harvey is likely to have a major impact on southeastern Texas in coming days with prospects for tremendous rainfall amounts of up to a couple of feet possible. Harvey could very well be the first hurricane strike in Texas since 2008. Another tropical system will slowly push northeastward along the Southeast US coastline and it could intensify enough to become named "Irma" as it spreads heavy rain from Florida to coastal North Carolina.
