Discussion
A weak frontal system will hang around the Mid-Atlantic region this weekend and its boundary zone will help in the formation of low pressure which will lead to numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. The threat for showers and thunderstorms will not only return here for the weekend, but will continue early next week as our long-term wet weather pattern continues in the eastern US. Some of the rain that falls this weekend and early next week can be on the heavy side; watch for flash flooding given the already-saturated grounds. The annual Perseid meteor shower peaks this weekend, but clouds on both nights could be quite problematic for viewing.
