Discussion

After a bit of a break in the high heat on Wednesday, southwesterly flow will push much warmer air back into the region and temperatures should climb to the low-to-mid 90’s. As has been the case in recent days, showers and thunderstorms are forming to our northwest and they’ll drop to the south and east for possible impact during the afternoon and evening hours. Any storm that forms later today can be on the strong-to-severe side with heavy downpours and possible damaging wind gusts. A frontal boundary zone will remain close enough on Friday to keep it unsettled around here with a continuing  chance of showers and thunderstorms. A more comfortable air mass should drop southward into the region for part of the Labor Day weekend featuring at or slightly below normal cooler temperatures and lowering humidity values.

One final note…anyone planning to travel to Penn State for their first game on Saturday (@3:30pm) can expect to see mainly sunny skies and high temperatures in the upper 70’s.
