High pressure ridging continues to dominate the scene across the Southeast US and we’ll start off the new work week with a couple of hot days. Deeper moisture surges into the region at mid-week as a strong upper-level disturbances slides across the region and our chances for showers and thunderstorms will increase. Meanwhile, the 2019 Atlantic Basin tropical season “officially” began on Saturday, June 1st and there is a disturbance in the southwest Gulf of Mexico that has a chance of strengthening into a named storm in coming days as it moves northward along Mexico’s west coast and then near or along the east coast of Texas.

A cold front moved through the region late yesterday and its passage has ushered in a much more comfortable air mass for the next couple of days. High pressure will build into the region today and nice weather will continue on Wednesday as well. A warm front will arrive late tomorrow night and it can be accompanied by some shower and thunderstorm activity going into the day on Thursday. It’ll turn warmer during the second half of the week with highs generally near 80 degrees.
