A nearby frontal system will keep an unsettled weather pattern in the Tennessee Valley for the next few days and it’ll include the threat for some heavy rainfall. Showers are likely today and there can be a couple of heavy thunderstorms this afternoon and during the evening hours. The threat for some heavy rainfall will continue around here into Thursday and there can be additional showers and thunderstorms on Friday as the stalled-out frontal system still impacts northern Alabama.

A nearby frontal system will keep an unsettled weather pattern in the Tennessee Valley and it’ll include the threat for heavy rainfall. There is the chance of some rain today, but an even better one will come on Wednesday as a complex of moderate-to-heavy rain will head into the region. The threat for some heavy rainfall will continue around here into Thursday and there can be additional showers and thunderstorms on Friday as the stalled-out frontal system still impacts northern Alabama.

7:00 AM | **A drier air mass next few days following frontal passage...Perseid meteor shower peaks late tonight**

A frontal system pushed through the region last night putting an end to the shower/thunderstorm activity and today will be noticeably less humid with a stiff northerly breeze ushering in more comfortable air mass to northern Alabama. High pressure will take control of the weather providing us with a nice weekend for the middle part of August. In fact, temperatures may actually start the weekend at levels not since around here since late June with lows likely in the lower 60’s.

Yesterday featured copious amounts of showers and thunderstorms including some heavy rainfall and there remains a threat today of additional significant rain as a front slowly slides through the region. Widespread cloud cover and possible rainfall will help to keep temperatures on the cooler side today with afternoon highs in the mid or upper 80’s. Following the passage of the frontal system, a noticeable drop in overall humidity will take place by Friday and the more comfortable conditions will last into the upcoming weekend.

The next couple of days will feature a threat for heavy rainfall as a weak frontal system combines with a very moist environment to keep it unsettled around here. Given the abundance of clouds, temperatures will be held down to moderately warm levels to go along with the chance for additional rainfall. Slightly drier air arrives on Thursday night and Friday following the passage of a frontal system.
