7:00 AM | Next couple days remain quite nice, but weekend gets unsettled

Paul Dorian

High pressure over the western Atlantic will continue to have an influence on our weather in central Florida, but the overall pattern will transition later in the week as a frontal boundary zone arrives. As this system pushes northward over the next few days, moisture will increase significantly around here and the result will be a higher chance for rain by the time the weekend rolls around.

7:00 AM | Little chance for rain until the weekend

Paul Dorian

High pressure will shift our way from the southern Plains and generate rain-free conditions across the Florida Peninsula. In fact, it should stay quite nice around here through much of the remainder of the work week, but unstable conditions are likely to return here this weekend. A frontal boundary zone will slide our way this weekend and bring us an increasing chance for rain.

7:00 AM | *Tropical disturbance intensifying and pushing this way...makes it quite unsettled around here this weekend*

Paul Dorian

Strong high pressure ridging along the east coast will begin to lose its influence this weekend as a tropical disturbance tracks this way from the Bahamas. This feature is intensifying this morning as it treks to the west and has cool air aloft which will destabilize the atmosphere here this weekend and increase chances for significant rainfall. Both weekend days could see some shower activity across central Florida and thunderstorms are likely to mix into the picture as well with downpours possible. These unsettled conditions are likely to improve slowly during the early part of the new week.

7:00 AM | Western Atlantic high pressure continues to dominate

Paul Dorian

Strong high pressure is located over the waters of the western Atlantic Ocean and this positioning will continue a steady low-level flow of air from the east across the Florida Peninsula. High temperatures will be right near the 80 degree mark over the next two days will only limited chances for showers. Over the weekend, the chance for showers will increase as a frontal boundary zone makes its way towards the central part of Florida.

7:00 AM | Strong high pressure over the western Atlantic continues to produce persistent onshore flow around here

Paul Dorian

Strong high pressure is located over the waters of the western Atlantic Ocean and this positioning will continue a steady low-level flow of air from the east across the Florida Peninsula. High temperatures will be right near the 80 degree mark over the next few days will only limited chances for showers. Elsewhere, it has been a slow tornado season so far this year across the central and southern Plains, but there could be an outbreak of severe weather later today as a clash develops in that part of the country between warm, humid advancing northward from the Gulf of Mexico air and cold air sliding eastward across the southwestern US.

7:00 AM | Persistent onshore flow lasts all week

Paul Dorian

As high pressure expands to our north today at all levels of the atmosphere, an onshore flow of air will solidify and winds will persistently reach 20+ mph from an E-to-NE direction. In fact, this overall pattern of mainly sunny skies, warm conditions and gusty winds will continue for the remainder of the week. A weak “tropical-looking” system is likely to form near the Bahamas by the end of the week and we’ll monitor that interesting system. Elsewhere, it has been a slow tornado season so far this year across the central Plains, but there could be an outbreak of severe weather on Wednesday as a clash develops in that part of the country between warm, humid advancing northward from the Gulf of Mexico air and cold air sliding eastward across the southwestern US.

7:00 AM | Main weather story this week will be the persistent onshore winds

Paul Dorian

As high pressure expands to our north today, an onshore flow of air will develop and high temperatures will be shaved a few degrees from yesterday. In addition, winds will pick up in intensity out of the northeast perhaps gusting to 30 mph. This pattern of mainly sunny, comfortably warm and windy will continue for the next few days as high pressure continues to dominate the scene.

7:00 AM | Nice stretch of weather begins this weekend following frontal passage

Paul Dorian

A weak frontal system is closing in on the region today and this will raise our chances for showers and thunderstorms and temperatures will soar to the 80’s ahead of the front. Behind the cold front, the weekend will feature dry, pleasant conditions as high pressure takes control. As high pressure builds to our north early next week, an onshore flow of air will develop and highs will be shaved a few degrees from the weekend and winds may gust past 30 mph at times on Monday and Tuesday.

7:00 AM | Very nice weekend on the way

Paul Dorian

There is the chance for showers and thunderstorms today, tonight and Friday across central Florida, but a nice stretch of weather is coming for this weekend and the early part of next week. The only down side to the nice weather pattern coming to the region will be quite strong onshore winds that develop by Monday and likely continue into the middle of next week.
