1:30 PM Update - wall of water headed our way

Paul Dorian

A solid and widespread area of showers and thunderstorms is closing in from our west and southwest and should overspread the region during the mid-to-late afternoon hours and then continue until late this evening. Just about all locations between DC and New York City will get significant rain in that time period. Some of the thunderstorms will feature torrential downpours and strong wind gusts of 50 mph or more. A few inches of rain can fall in a short period of time during this rain event causing localized flooding conditions. The rain will take its time pulling out tonight; especially, near and east of I-95, but then the weekend should turn out to be generally dry and warm throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
