6:50 PM | Very heavy rain moves in tonight and this significant rain event continues into Thursday
Paul Dorian
Very heavy rain is likely over the next few hours as numerous showers and thunderstorms have developed along a strong cold front that is slowly working through the Mid-Atlantic. This front stalls to our south and east tomorrow and allows for tropical moisture (remains of Lee) to ride up and over the cool air mass on Tuesday and Wednesday and some of this rain will fall heavily at times. Temperatures on Tuesday will be confined to the chilly 60's along with the rain and there will be a cool breeze as well. Up to 5 inches of rain may fall in many Mid-Atlantic locations during this early-to-mid week significant rain event by the time it winds down on Thursday and this will likely renew flooding issues in many spots.
