1:20 PM | Looking ahead - some signs of winter

Discussion
There are increasing indications that more winter-like weather will finally head into the eastern US in the early part of January as the overall weather pattern appears to be adjusting to recent events over the polar region. Computer forecast models suggest much colder air will penetrate into the East early next week, at least temporarily, and that could even be accompanied by some east coast storminess. Looking even farther ahead into the month of January, more cold air masses are likely to build up in western Canada and then make a run at the central and eastern US by the middle of the month in perhaps a more sustained manner. We’ll continue to monitor the situation here at “thesiweather.com”. For the rest of the month (and year), the generally mild weather pattern that we’ve experienced since November will continue, but then some changes will likely get underway next week.
