Accumulating snow on the order of 1-3 inches is likely for late Friday night and Saturday morning in the I-95 corridor from DC to Philly to NYC (favoring the "1 inch" in DC and the "3 inches" in NYC). The combination of an Arctic front, strong upper level disturbance, an influx of Gulf moisture and a developing storm just off the east coast will bring us precipitation beginning Friday evening, possibly as rain or a mix of rain and snow, but that will change to all snow by late Friday night and continue into Saturday morning. If the storm develops a slight bit quicker or a little closer to the coast then these preliminary snowfall estimates of 1-3 inches could actually be raised somewhat. Higher snowfall amounts of up to 6 inches are likely from Long Island to Cape Cod. Strong winds will develop here Saturday afternoon as temperatures likely drop through the 30's into the 20's and additional snow showers are possible. Temperatures should, in fact, plunge to the teens Saturday night and perhaps even as low as 10 degrees in some spots meaning the snow will actually stick around for awhile without melting.
