9:00 AM | Storm stays to the south, DC area can still get a light accumulation

The storm that we have been tracking for the last few days is now over the Southeast US and will head towards the North Carolina coast by tonight. The latest shift slightly to the south will likely prevent its precipitation shield from advancing any farther north than about northern Maryland. The DC region can still get a light snow accumulation tonight; especially on its south side (e.g., Culpepper, Fredericksburg, Springfield), but the heaviest snow from this storm is likely to fall across southern West Virginia and southwestern Virginia. The precipitation moves off the east coast in the overnight hours and Monday will feature sunshine and dry conditions in much of the Mid-Atlantic.
