The overall weather pattern looks quite cool for the foreseeable future in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the country and it may very well turn out to be a colder-than-normal month of November. The remains of Hurricane Sandy have now weakened and moved into Canada and the weather around here will be rather tranquil right through the weekend. By the early part of next week, however, things will become more active along the east coast. It appears that two different low pressure systems may develop near the east coast in the early and mid-week time period. The first wave of low pressure is likely be rather weak and should move off the coast well to our south and east on Monday, but then a more important system may develop into a full blown nor’easter by Tuesday night or Wednesday. This second system will probably hug the coast much more than the first system and it could throw some precipitation back into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast US by the middle of next week including in the storm-ravaged areas from this week. At the same time, rather cold air will be entrenched in this part of the country; consequently, snow is not out of the question from this potential nor’easter in some sections of the Northeast.
